southbank book market

Southbank book market is on daily, just outside the BFI cinema and cafe, underneath waterloo bridge. 

There are rows upon rows of used books for cheap prices (starting at 50p). They sell old maps, vinyls and old-fashioned magazine prints. Being able to look at books outside next to the river creates a really nice friendly atmosphere.

Another retro clothing shop I stumbled upon while on my way to LGC.
Wow retro stock in both retro and modern second hand clothing, boots,
shoes and accessories for men and women. The clothes are nicely
organise according to the era they are from. Nice friendly staff !

POP boutique is a small store packed with great affordable vintage clothings,

made of 70s curtain fabrics.

LGC specialise in art and graphic materials, from paper to paints. Sign up for their newsletter for
their latest news and great offers. Students can sign up for a free student discount card at any
LGC branch and enjoy 15% discount for regular price items ! Besides the wide range of art supplies,
LGC sells Design books and Magazines, such as ART REVIEW,FRIEZE and GRAFIK. 

Currently, the LGC flagship store at Covent Garden has a 20f Art Installation inspired by light reflecting
through a prism and is made from hundreds of graphic art supplies. Designed and created by studioXAG,
do check out the amazing giant installation !

COCKPIT ARTS...

Located in Cockpits Yard, just around the corner from Hatton Garden are the Cockpit Art Studios - an award wining social enterprise and the UK's only creative-business incubator for designer-makers. Focused on nurturing and supporting talented designers and artisans with a craft basis to their work it is a renowned hotbed of creative talent. It helps around 165 resident designer-makers to grow their businesses and hundreds more through their 'Making It' workshops and seminars.

The studios house all manor of artisans each producing a wide range of crafts; glass, ceramics, jewellery & fashion accessories, metalwork, silversmithing,  furniture & lighting designers as well as book arts and stationery and art led textiles. Although they don't encourage you just popping in on whim you can book appointments with individual studios or arrange for a tour to check out their wares.

As part of their incubator package as well as hiring a managed studio (including all services water/heating etc) in a creative environment from them at a reduced rate (presently £230 a month) they also offer the following services and support to get you going as an independent trader...
